Tasha's Design Blog

Hello! Name's Tasha! Welcome to my blog! I am a graduate from Johnson & Wales University with a BS in Computer Graphics Design. This blog is to show designs I will be creating for each week of the year as well as some fun things along the way. The first design will be on August 1st 2010, and continue from there. The thought behind this is to challenge myself, and my creative mind. Come by and check it out!!:)

Design #43: Fierce Serenity: I wanted to do another design like the deer illustration I created. I really think this has finally helped me to understand skin tones with light & shadows. This illustration was both challenging, and satisfying to create. Took me a long time, but patience can create something beautiful xx

Design #41: Wild Beauty: This piece was extremely fun, and carefree to create. I’ve been wanting to do something with wildlife, preferably a deer for a long time, and I finally was able to create a piece I’m very proud of!

Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.
— Steve Jobs. May you rest in peace. (via ouractsofkindness)

home sweet home

Heyy everybody! I’ve recently returned home from my training. This was probably one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I love being a soldier. I will try to start my “one a week” back up once I settle in to my new destination: Kuwait. My unit is now getting deployed soon & we will be there for about 9 months. I will do my best to keep my work going. I really do miss designing! Thank you for all the continuing love!!

Design Break: USA: I first want to thank everybody who supports my “one a week” and follows my designs. You’re interest in my work, keeps me wanting to design more and more. Art has been a passion of mine for as long as I can remember, but lately, a new interest has developed. I decided to join the US Army National Guard, and leave for my training on May 31st, 2011. While I am gone, I cannot use my computer, so my designs will be on hold ‘til I return in about 5 months. I will keep drawing up ideas to have for when I come home, but until then, I cannot post anything. I hope you all return to look at my work when I start my project up again. I’m excited for my new adventure/job, and can’t wait to represent my beautiful country :)

Design #40: Home sweet home: This design is quite personal in the aspect of my experiences. Throughout our lives we leave imprints in this world whether we know it, or not. Our thoughts, and actions change our paths as we progress through life. I wanted to represent this with my own experiences. If you look closely at these shoe prints you can see where I’m from, where I’m going, and where I’ve been. (Providence county, US Army National Guard, and Europe) The memories I have, and what I will gain will remain with me forever, and I think that’s an extraordinary thing. Everybody has their own ongoing story…enjoy creating it…Thanks for checking it out!!xx

Design #39: Think green: I had a sketch I did a little while ago, and this was incorporated in it. I decided to crop this part out, and make a “green” design out of it. I know the whole “go green” has been used by many designers/companies/individuals, but I decided to make my own! I’ve been trying to buy more organic produce, and recycling a lot more, and feel more people should get on this track. We’ve come a long way though! I really love the abstract aspect about this design, and enjoyed creating the concept. Thanks for checking it out!!xx

About all you can do in life is be who you are. Some people will love you for you. Most will love you for what you can do for them, and some won’t like you at all.  ~ Rita Mae Brown

Oh boy is this on target!

Design #38: Dreamer: Lately I’ve been trying to live my life as it happens, and follow the quote that “everything happens for a reason.” I’ve been surrounding myself with positive energy as best I can whether it be friends, or staying active. I’ve also been wanting to pursue my goals, and dreams more than ever. I wanted to reflect this, and this design was the first thing that came to mind and stuck. It’s said that you can see a person’s soul through their eyes, and I wanted to represent this. I love our country because it provides us with experiences, and opportunities (usually). I truly believe that if you put your mind to something, you can achieve it, and to follow your dreams wherever they may take you…Thanks for checking it out!!xx

Design #37: Fashion: I’ve never been very big into fashion, or the latest styles, but I’ve always had respect for designers. I think fashion sketches are beautiful, and have an interesting style to them. I decided to make a “collage” with some vintage colors, and different aspects of fashion. I love plaid, so I had to put that in there somewhere, and I’ve always thought the fabric mannequins are so much better than the plastic mannequins you see in the stores today. To build this concept, I first sketched out mostly all the pieces, and brought them into photoshop, and then transfered the transparent images into illustrator, and conjured up this design!! Thanks for checking it out!!xx
